Fahrenheit 451

Wow. Burning books is pretty much a crime, worse than murdering because you are murdering the people who wrote and read the book because they can’t have a copy to remember history. Yes, it may be only fiction or religious books but you should be allowed to think how you want. This book takes place in a society where the government wants you to think how they want you to think and that is just wrong because everybody is unique in their own way, and blending in with the throng is just the wrong thing to do because the world will lose another man that could have impacted it with his personality. the world needs all the conflicting personalities to rule it so it can have the widest views and opinions to see the whole picture. The group that Montag joined was truly the people we should be with because they remembered the individualities that people have and they remember the people that will never be forgotten because they remember the books. when you lose your individuality you lose your life because when you blend in with the crowd you are just becoming part of the throng that is grouped together because they are all the same. The books you read defines you and if the books you read are limited then your personality will be limited because it will not be exposed to the wide variety of the fictional world.

AOW 16 Review

hehehe I love posting random stuff but this article is out there. I see part of the point of the research but this kind of research is unreliable that far into the future so it really doesn’t help us determine if we ever will have a problem because old people (even though they are awesome ninjas) may die for some unknown reason and we may not be able to stop it for a while so we won’t be able to save the old people. Not that I want them to die but I’m saying it’s a possibility we can’t predict.

AOW 16 list

  1. people actually care about this stuff and conduct surveys
  2. there are very bored people or very stupid bosses
  3. China sucks with their high percentage of working age population
  4. India will suck if these people are right (most likely not)
  5. Hispanics will be cut off from illegal immigration by a republican president most likely so the survey people are wrong
  6. Utah has lots of people not working comparatively speaking
  7. I still don’t know what Medicare is
  8. there are too many old people (even though they are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  9. http://www.mylifeisaverage.com is awesome (not related but oh well.)

Hahaha this is the idiot’s guide to the computer or the unobservant’s guide to the computer. Somebody just put down things that a lot of digital natives do already and don’t need to even look at this article. But then, not everybody is a digital native. Honestly though, a non digital native that thinks about simple things would do these things and do them. It really isn’t a useful article and is a perfect example of how article titles sometimes don’t mean a thing. I personally think that the people who do use everyday computing don’t even need this and will just ignore this article because they would have figured this stuff out by now.

1) Solo has a cool connotation because of star wars and usually means someone is brave or just plain idiotic. Solitude and solitary usually have a more humble connotation and because it is usually associated with the word hermit. Desolate usually is a sadder or more fearful place because of the hard first sound. Solitude and solitary are really the only words that can be compared and usually are the only ones in that mood.

2) A philosopher establishes ideas where a philologist studies written texts; one writes, the other reads. Regicide is the killing of a king while an interregnum is a period where a land has no ruler; regicide causes interregnum.

3) If I lived in an aerie I would be pretty conceited because I would scoff and say that I live on the highest place around. But possibly, I would see, hear, feel, and thus think about things better because there is less human interaction most likely. People probably work in fire towers because they love nature and the view of it from a high place where they have time to think.

4) Yes we should because it grants future good relations with that country because no one likes a war and we shouldn’t want to cause one just because we have something against them that is just us being inconsiderate and not giving other nations a chance to prove they can be good.

5) That depends on what I have and what terrain I’m on and what gender the person is. Usually, I would just crawl into a smaller hole and then if the person tries to get in I kick his face in because my legs are stronger than my arms and then just take his tools and beat him to death with them.

6) haplopia – single vision, dichotomy – cut in two, macrocosm – big universe, effusive – pouring out, apogeotropism – unatural earth growth

7) They all have outer shells of some sort.

8) Better entertainment, physical training indoors, more visuals when studying earth sciences.

9) Yes because every fingerprint is different, even for twins and if it is viable evidence in court it usually is pretty reliable.

10) I would make them do my homework so I could work on more purposeful stuff at home. I learn the stuff in class anyway, why do we need to have homework to prove it. Oh.

Everybody wants to be perfect, it’s human nature and no matter how small the urge, there is still one. There are always those parents who claim “I have the best child” and try in every way they can to prove it. But sometimes it goes too far, this fixing imperfections isn’t that bad because sometimes retakes are too expensive and the easiest thing is just to fix it using digital abilities we have, after all, what’s the point of having technology if you don’t use it? If it’s easier to use technology, we should all use it and be able to cherish it.

AOW15 Questions

1) The authors purpose is to inform people about what digital media can do, who wants to use it, and how they want to use it. Digital media can correct imperfections, parents and girls who think they are “imperfect” want to use it, and they use it using certain programs that photographers have.

2) Sometimes retouching is good because you want to have good family pictures around the house and some people don’t have the greatest faces and you want to make them look better. But the kid sometimes thinks the retouched image is his or hers and he/she gets prideful about false things and they get confused and sometimes depressed depending on the person, it can be good or bad.

Article of the Week 14 reflection

Concussions sometimes are and sometimes aren’t a big deal, it depends on the severity and number of concussions and how close they are together. Some people could go through 40 minor concussions very spread out time wise and not suffer any disease or anything. There are truly in many ways too many variables that you just can’t predict to conduct this kind of study and I question it’s validity. There are some people who try going over their heads trying to predict what will happen and that is virtually impossible. That’s what most scientists get wrong, they look at this one variable and conduct their study on that and if they do that then it will take years for them to conduct a valid survey because you need to cover major variables to truly conduct a survey. In this study of concussions they leave out some variables that could mean the person is just unlucky or stupid. It seems that reporters and scientists just want to leave out those variables because a person could be so unlucky that he gets very severe concussions every game he goes to that happen in the same place of his head and the scientists just left out variables of stupidity, luck, time, placement of concussion, and many other things. There truly is no accurate study for anything because you cannot take all the variables into account which will make people question the validity. Which means, who can you trust?
